Garden Eel Tank?

Tim from Keen Reef had one at his shop long time ago it was nice had quite a few eels in it too. His shop is no longer open, but maybe you could get his number from someone. Maybe he as pics of it he could share.

Is the Georgia aquarium reefer friendly when it comes to care info? They of course have that nice garden eel... garden

It's very doable. You'll need a very deep sand bed to the best odds of success. You'll also need to choose your inhabitants carefully, but it could be a very cool tank when done.

This is something I considered but decided not to do. Here's what I found:
- you need a deep sand bed... 8"-10" minimum
- water flow needs to be where it directs food at the fishes head level... they will not rise to take food.
- Choose inhabitants carefully: seahorses and pipe fish are good, the eels will not compete for food.

I decided not to do it because:
- I would use a 50g cube... not deep enough
- Directing flow would be a problem I do not want to tackle
- Tank would be tied into my larger tank system that usually runs too high a temp for the garden eels

I would love to see someone on ARC set this up... it may change my mind!

Thanks. Still considering it. It will be a few weeks before I move into the new office where I was thinking of putting the tank.

I was thinking about a 120 with garden eels, softies, pipefish and just a few fish that would hang out up high, but the eels would drive the design.
