Finally the cocktail of solutions is taking effect. I had an Hair Algae problem in my 100 gallon tank. I added 9 watt UV, phosban reactor using Rowaphos, some weird algae in the sump I purchased from Tim and phosphate pads.

It's dying off!!! I didn't think it was possible. New Coraline growth is poping up all over the place. I got it on the ropes and I was thinking of adding more Phosban and finishing it off.

Should I leave well enough alone? And what other adverse reactions can I get from zero phosphate? I do have a Gold Rimmed Tang and I have noticed one of my mushrooms seems to not be happy in the current environment. I figure I can add some decorative algae to the main tank that the Tang can nibble on from time to time. I am concerned that the algae that I have in the sump will also die off. Up to this point it looks healthy, but it's not growing. What do ya'll think?

Healthy, yes. Acceptable, a matter of opinion. Algae is the most prevalent life form on reefs. :)

Most of us would like to be able to control the distribution of nitrogen, phosphorous, silica, and light in our tanks. That's why some of us run oversized skimmers (a few way oversized... I would buy an MR-2 in a heartbeat if I could fit it under my stand), macroalgaes, phosphate-removing resins, et cetera.

So this is all a matter of opinion. The algae won't go away, no matter what you do. It's an exponential decline (if my mind is processing these things right. It's 1am.).

just get some nori sheets from publix and place on a clip for your tang.
