Glass Cages. The name may send chills up your spine, or just kinda make you go.... "meh".

I did have a glass cages tank back a while ago. It was a 24x24x24 cube built like a TANK. It wasn't especially beautiful. It wasn't oceanic quality, and it wasn't without flaw, but it held water and served me well. I have no doubt that tank is still in service somewhere today.

question is: has anyone dealt with them lately ? Have they cleaned up the "dirty ends"?

Just have my thinking cap on is all..

Thanks,

B

I heard horror stories prior to buying. I bought a custom tank from them 2.5 years ago. I was told by folks that it would have sloppy silicone work etc. It came looking great. Excellent work IMO. My only regret was not giving them more detailed instructions for the dims of my internal C2C overflow. They made it 6" wide on a tank that's 24" from front to back. Ate up 25% of my real estate.

Seth, my limited exp with them has been similar. I had no gripes with my tank... it DID have a little sloppy work on the silicon though..

for the price I just couldn't resist

IM CONSIDERING... a rimless 48x36x24 tank w CTC.. and their price is like $750w starfire front :/ kinda hard to beat that one (not including the overflow)

WHen i picked up my other tank I got a tour of their facility from the owner and MAN they do a LOT OF TANKS.. I bet they had 300 of them curing in an entire separate warehouse..

Edit: I guess I was just wondering if they had fine tuned everything

do they do external C2C? do you know by chance?

I have a 30 x 30 x 24 100 gallon cube, 3 sides starfire and internal overflow. No complaints about he tank, but the owner of the company is a complete tool.

They built my first cube, and I took delivery at the Gwinnett Fairgrounds. It was all wrapped up and when I got it home I noticed there was a section of silicone at the bottom on the front right vertical seam (where front and right side glass meet) that only had about 1/16" of silicone in it, and the glass was 1/2". I called the owner and he told me not to worry about it, then offered to either extend my warranty to 1 year (big deal) or refund me $50 on the cost (again, big deal). I told him that was unsatisfactory as it did not correct the issue, which was a possible flood from not enough silicone in the seam. I mentioned that his receptionist had said it sounded like an issue when I was first explaining to her what the issue was, and he abruptly said, "well, why don't I let you talk to her" and suddenly transferred me to her for what ever reason. Rude son of a b***h and a complete tool. They eventually built me a replacement, and I drove up there and picked it up so I could inspect it.

I wouldn't buy another, not for the quality of the product, but for the extremely poor Customer Service and the fact the owner is an a-hole. Seemed completely obvious to me why the first tank was not satisfactory, and that extending the warranty by 9 months or giving me $50 back did absolutely nothing to address the flood potential of that weak a silicone seam. If the guy had not been a prick about it I would not have had issue with driving up there to get it.

I think that company has just reached the size where they don't care about the individual customer since they do a lot of total store display builds, in addition to their herp display tanks., etc.

Horrid tanks and quality. Had a custom 45 gallon built and ended up refusing to replace a panel that came cracked.

They don't even offer to repair their own tanks

Had a 150 built by them a few years back and agree with Dave. My tank was great (specify your overflow dimensions mine was small) but the owner was very "short" on the phone. I drove to pick mine up and was quite surprised. The owner volunteered to give me a tour of his buildings and I was quite impressed. He does A LOT of commercial tanks and the place was clean and packed with all kinds of tanks. Very surprising because he is in the middle of nowhere....

I have a rimless 36x24x24. It's great and the silicone work was very neat. I would upgrade to the back silicone. I think they have to be a little neater with it. So far, I'm very happy with mine.

I've talked to more dissatisfied glass cage tank owners than happy ones.... I've never dealt with them, and will probably keep it that way.

Ordered a 500 gallon for a local doctor. Arrived OK, silicone looked slathered on in sections and overall there certainly wasn't a very precise attention to detail. The doctor had to do a LOT of silicon cleanup. There was even a few splotches dried up on the front glass....

While they are reasonably priced, that tank was about $5000 and you should NEVER spend that much money on any product that isn't perfect. JMO.

Also, as Dave said, the owner was NOT very friendly over the phone and I got the impression he was bothered by even having to talk to me. Horrible customer service.

With that said, if you can clean up silicone and deal with an A-Hole, the prices and quality are decent.
