Yesterday i added a very nice Blue spot sleeper goby. First thing it did when i let him go is go behind a few rocks and sit there and look out. After awhile, he came out a little and started to sift the sand. Since last night though, i have not seen him. I moved a few rocks near where he was hanging out and he is nowhere to be found. My Water params are fine (Amm-0, Nit-0, Nitrates- 5ppm) and i have checked the sump, the filter sock and all around the tank and i cannot find him. Is this normal in the first few days for gobies to hide in the rocks or do you think he is dead?
Thanks

I've him some time....if he doesn't show after 3-4 days then maybe he didn't make it...but he's mostly likely just hiding out for a little bit till he gets used to his new digs...

You should be fine as long as you acclimated him correctly yesterday. When I added my yasha goby I did not see the little guy for almost a week, but eventually he came out more and more. Good luck, hopefully he will show up soon!

I acclimated him by floating the bag for about 15 min, then slowly adding small amounts of tank water to the bag for the next 15-30 min. Glad to hear that its normal and hopefully he will show up soon.

Yeah I didn't see my bar goby for almost a month....now he is out all the time with his shrimp

I've had 2 gobies disappear for a month and then show back up. Give him some time to adjust.

Some fish just hide until they feel safe..

I had a Niger Trigger hide for 3 weeks after he was added..

If things like this happen again, take a deep breath and walk away.. Moving the rock didn't help the situation at all.. It just adds more stress..

It will come out soon.. Just freaked out..

Like the others said just give it some time. My dragon goby goes missing all the time. Keep us updated if you find it though! good luck.
