At this point, sentiment definitely favors the 120. My only concern -- and it's a big one -- is whether the floor will hold it.

I really think, you are over thinking it. Like I said, shoot Grouper a PM, he will ask you a few questions and give you an educated answer. Or, he may just stop by to look. He has worked for one of the major staircase companies in Atlanta for a long time. He knows about wood frame structures and you can trust what he tells you.

Or a 187 (60x24x30) I have the 187 but it is not up yet. Other projects are holding me back.

yea the deeper the better. def worth it.

Personally, I would go with shallow sand bed but, the 6" of view space will make a bigger difference than you think.

lol i did not mean a deeper sand bed. i meant deeper dimensions. shallow bed all the way

I was commenting on Shane's previous post where he asked if 6" extra sand bed made that big of dif. LOL One thing I learned on my previous tank is that I will never go that with fine sand or that deep again. A real bear trying to keep it clean.

i love fine sand. it just makes the tank look more "pristine". deep sand bed on the other hand, unless you have a specific reason for doing it, its more trouble then its worth.

They wore this thread out today, but I would really go with the 120, or if you can swing it, since you are approved for 60", go with a 150 (60x24x24). But that size may be difficult to find especially if you are buying used.

I've done a lot of research on load bearing capacity of floors and walls, I'm not a professional, but if you are close, I could stop by and take a look. Just as a reference point, I had a 120 on a second floor and I currently have a 210 on a second floor.

Thanks for the offer! Yeah, I could totally believe that I'm way underestimating the load-bearing capacity. Grouper is coming by on Monday, so I'll see what he says. You're really close, though, so I'll keep you in mind
