Going Green/Enviromentally Friendly

Im not a "tree hugger" but Im all about douing what I can to help the environment especially when it comes to saving power, which in turns lower the power bill. Its a win/win situation. I havent seen anyone post about how they save energy and even water. I know with my MHs, I was pulling a lot of energy and created a lot of evaporation from the heat issue. My mag 12 and protein skimmer pulled a bunch of power as well. So my question is, what are you doing to help efficiency? The best way I see to better your wallet and the environment is to use LEDs. I am definitely going to go LED which will use a significantly less power, and create less heat which of course reduces evaporation.

i know the quietone pumps run a lot less power than the mag's do.
i run my skimmer WAY less than i use to. they dont need to run 24/7.
cut the MH and run T5's a day or two out of the week.
it is overcast in the tropics too sometimes.
mojo did this very topic a while back, do a search, there is plenty of pages for you to read on this.

That's how I water my plants. I have been looking into a solar panel idea though. I have even seen diy panels, but want to see any of it applied to the hobby.
Water change waste water is good to scrub down your driveway too. Still have to use the hose to rinse though. Salt keeps the weeds down so no edging really

you guys do know that dumping large amounts of salt is actually bad for the environment, right? (I know dr.NEC was joking, but anything that you do that kills plants and prevents shrubs from growing is pretty much the opposite of "green"..
