I broke down my tank more then 3 week ago and placed everything in a big vat. I kept my livestock there for 3 weeks before returning them to a newly setup tank. The vat conditions were less then pristine and I have lost a lot of SPS but non of the live stock. Throughout all that time the moray would not eat. I used to feed him raw shrimp before - that would be the only food he would accept. So it's been more then 3 week now and he is back in the tank and still would not eat. Any ideas?

they can go without food for a looooonnnggggg time....dont stress it.....he may just be readjusting.....just offer him food every couple days and see if he takes it...he will eventually get hungry and eat...

Eels can go much longer without eating. He's probably stressed and just getting back acclimated to the new tank.

Nice Achilles in your avatar btw, is it yours? Is it normally that purple?

Live food?.....maybe go buy a chromis and impale it on a skewer then remove from said skewer and try to feed the eel with your feeding tongs while the chromis is still moving.....

Have you tried ghost shrimps? That's what mine ate exclusively for a long time until he tried a pellet.

Edit:

Golden moray are tiny. I don't think he can swallow a chromis unless it's tiny.

If in a rush pet smart has them for 39 per. But call warehouse aquarium, they use to have 10 for 1.00. I use to buy 100 at a time and place them in a small planted tank. They would breed really fast

Yes. People keep them as pets. And if u go to the lawrenceville one, don't tell her your feeding ur eels. She keeps them as pets and will break down and cry . It was quite uncomfortable to have every guest there console her and ask me "what did you do !!!" manager even yell at me before I explained. I hope she's not a member and reads this

Yeah they can survive in salt water for a few hours I think....if they dont get eaten first.....you can always try to find salt water ghost shrimp....or "white shrimp" I think they are called....if you get the FW ones just acclimate them in 1/2 fresh and half salt water for a little while....
