Anyone keep them before? Has anyone had any trouble or tips for care either way?

I know some are high light, and some require no light, so other than what the lfs says, how can I tell the difference? Are they aggressive or invasive? What kind of requirements are best for both?...I'm trying to read up on them as I want to setup my 30g around them...but know nothing at this point.

This is one that I have in my tank. It is placed directly in the middle. Medium light and decent flow. It does pretty good. Very slow grower but very colorful. I got this from Jin about 3 or so months ago and it has grown maybe a inch total.

We have 2 in our 75. Have had them for about 4 months now. A red and yellow. Both are on the bottom with medium flow and have been doing fine. They have to be fed. We usually spot feed DT's when the polyps are extended a couple times a week. Sometimes the polyps come out during the day sometimes at night. We have not found them to be aggressive. they are really spectacular when all the polyps are out IMO. Hope this helps.

I have that one and a Atlantic orange also, they are both on the bottom of my tank(31") deep and their polyps stay out all the time. They are in med-high flow so much so that I can see them flowing in the current.
I havn't noticed them being aggressive they just sit there and eat.
I love them, they add alot of color to the tank.
Hope this helps.

what goes into the spot feeding? just fill a syringe and spread a little over, or is it more or less?

I use a medicine dosing syringe, like the one you would use with a small kid, usually use 5ml, shut the flow off (dont want it to blow all over the tank) and just gently spread it over the polyps. Give it a few minutes and turn the flow back on.

I don't usually spot feed any of my stuff. More of a broadcast feed 2-3 times a week. 10ml of phyto and 5 of roti. Granted some corals benefit more from it then others. I am just lazy. :lol2:

I've a number of photosynthetic ones--they are tan with brown polyps, but don't need to be fed. Even though they're not colorful, I like them because of the motion they give to the tank.

Know anything about fragging this particular species?

and would you be willing to.

Here is a small one I have (in the background of the picture). I don't know what kind it is, but it is a tanish white and the polyps are always out. I have had it a little over a month and it has gorwn maybe a half an inch or so. I have not fed it at all, as I believe it is a photosynthesic one.

I've had them a little over a year. I don't have any decent pics--I'll post some after the lights come up.

It's pretty easy....I had a branch break off and I just cut back the flesh a bit from the skeleton, drilled a small hole in a rock and glued the skeleton in (no glue on the fleshy part of the coral. It grew back down to cover the exposed skeleton.

I've got a 3" frag (see above) and could probably frag off another branch or two....

You don't have to cut back the flesh. It is definatly good practice though. I just glued mine in laziness.

Tiffany at blue planet has this 2 ft tall one in her display that is just the most colorful thing. I used to tell her everytime that if she fragged a little pice I'd buy it...she never would tho. Ah well, guess I'll have to wait till something comes up (at a time I can afford).
