Thought I would share my story of getting completely screwed by paypal and a seller.
I purchased a Current USA Outer Orbit 342W light on eBay for $141.50 shipped. After trouble with the seller about him not having access to his funds from paypal (They wouldn't release it to him until 21 days or something) I finally got him to ship it, after agreeing to post feedback so it would release.
On the way here, it was listed as "damaged in transit" by FedEx and the "shipper requested item return", so it was sent back to him. The problems start.....
He said he didn't request a return, and I must have refused to accept it. That was BS as it never made it past the South GA Fedex Depot in Waycross. When it got back to him, he said it looked like it had been runover by a truck, and I needed to file a claim. Fedex only accepts claims from the shipper. The dude filed the claim, got the money, kept my paypal money, and lied to me saying he didn't get a check, it was responsibility to file. This went on for several months.
I finally tracked down the fedex shipping office he used, and they confirmed he got a insurance payment for it and made the claim himself, which he had been denying. When I confronted him in an email, and said I had talked to Fedex, he said he didn't owe me anything. He was "out of a $500 light", and once it ships it isn't his responsibility because I didn't specifically pay for insurance, even though it was shipped insured. In his retarded mind, he deserved to keep the broken fixture, my payment, and the insurance payment. Double payment, and he got to keep the item? Really?
So to sum it up....
The prick lied to me, collected insurance, kept my money, got his light returned from Fedex, told me to kiss his ***, and dared me to sue him after I said I would call the local PD there or a lawyer, after I found out.
I couldn't file a claim with paypal, only ebay, which got his eBay account suspended. Later he bragged about how he didn't care about ebay, his paypal account was still in good standing and was never suspended. Then proceeded to tell me it was my fault I didn't file claim with paypal in time and he was in the right. In hindsight I now know he was lying on purpose so that the windows of opportunity to file with paypal would expire.
Now, almost two years later.....
I hope that trailer park prick who lives with his mother is still enjoying my $141.50. Not really the end of the world or worth that much trouble. The local sheriffs office wouldn't do anything when I called them back then. I even gave them his address, had a photo of where he lived (google maps are great). Anyway.. lesson learned... eBay is getting more scammers every day. I still buy there, but make SURE I am completely covered now.
If by any chance you ever come across dealings with a Texan named JB Walker... run.
