Well I sold a nice skimmer to a person on RC for an x amount of dollars. I though it was packed well and insured it through Fedex. The guy calls me and says the pump was broken. I told him to take it to Fedex and let me know what was going on because it was insured. Well he did that and told me I needed to contact Fedex so they could cut him the check. A few days went by and he made a claim with Paypal.I called Fedex and told them to send me the check and I had already paid the other guy back through Paypal. They sent all my money back to me and sat they sent my skimmer back. I used super glue to fix the broken part took about 2 minutes and now have my skimmer back. The funny thing is Im adding another 250 + gallon system and could use a skimmer.Feel like I just got got a Christmas present.:D

Well at least your turns out to be a happy ending. I am going through a paypal's dispute right now with a guy that sent me some lights arriving all broken. Dude didn't buy insurance because he said I didn't ask for it...:confused2:. I told him that if he packaged it securely with peanuts or bubble wraps, none of this would have happened. Not to mention that he charged me more for the shipping than the actual cost and pocketed the profit.

Instead of shipping through UPS or Fedex that has $100 insurance automatically, he sent through USPS with no insurance...So now he wants me to send it back at my costs and he will refund the money I paid him without the shipping that he charged.

Stick it back in the box retape and tell them you refuse the package they will send it back to the original person free of charge.

PG.....he's busted then. EBay rules are that the SELLER is responsible for insurance on every shipment now. No if's, and's or but's about it. File a claim with eBay as well. (I'm presuming it's an eBay purchase since you paid with PayPal.). I've personally been down this road as both the seller and buyer. The system will work in your favor.

Well that could be a problem.

1. Dude didn't put a return address on the package.
2. I have opened a dispute so most likely paypal would require for me to either send it to them or the seller with proof .

Just wondering how long will this process going to take and also what paypal will do. It was only 40 bucks for the lights but now the hassles and the attitude of the seller just got my blood boiling.

I'm looking at a similar issue;

The collection cup on my Tunze 9011 is cracked, I'm hoping the Ebay seller replies to my complaint fairly soon.

Is there a glue that works very well on acrylic without making it look uglier than a Monkey's Butt? I was going to use this unit in-tank....

I have bought many things on Ebay, and am a power seller also. If the person does not want to work with you it could be bad for you. I have bought several things that came broke, most of the time The seller wants pictures and will refund 100%. But if they want it back you will have to send it at your expense. And if they have no money in their paypal account Ebay can not make them pay you. (even if they have money in paypal it is still iffy) I purchased something about a year-ago paid $1800.00 + $250.00 for shipping to my door. It took 6 months to get it and I had to drive to Nashville to pick it up at a truck depot. (from Dalton) What I had bought was broke and damaged bad. I contacted the seller (again) and he filed a claim from the trucking company and got paid $2000.00 from the trucking company, but never paid me anything. (the person that ships it is the only one that can file a claim) Ebay claims they are trying to make things better, with buyer protection. (they are going to buy insurance)

Good luck. The only thing you can for sure do is give negative feedback.

I bought a ring off ebay feb of this year. Seller had lied completely about the ring and wouldn't give me my money back. So I contacted ebay and got a shipping label (ebay paided return shipping) got all my money back including shipping.

MarkL....

mail me the SUMP you want for your expansion build and we'll see if FedEx falls for it again...

:)

Hehe, had to post three times before I could send PMs...and "it is" an awesome x-mas present...hehe.

I'm just glad to have found this site.

Thought I would share my story of getting completely screwed by paypal and a seller.

I purchased a Current USA Outer Orbit 342W light on eBay for $141.50 shipped. After trouble with the seller about him not having access to his funds from paypal (They wouldn't release it to him until 21 days or something) I finally got him to ship it, after agreeing to post feedback so it would release.

On the way here, it was listed as "damaged in transit" by FedEx and the "shipper requested item return", so it was sent back to him. The problems start.....

He said he didn't request a return, and I must have refused to accept it. That was BS as it never made it past the South GA Fedex Depot in Waycross. When it got back to him, he said it looked like it had been runover by a truck, and I needed to file a claim. Fedex only accepts claims from the shipper. The dude filed the claim, got the money, kept my paypal money, and lied to me saying he didn't get a check, it was responsibility to file. This went on for several months.

I finally tracked down the fedex shipping office he used, and they confirmed he got a insurance payment for it and made the claim himself, which he had been denying. When I confronted him in an email, and said I had talked to Fedex, he said he didn't owe me anything. He was "out of a $500 light", and once it ships it isn't his responsibility because I didn't specifically pay for insurance, even though it was shipped insured. In his retarded mind, he deserved to keep the broken fixture, my payment, and the insurance payment. Double payment, and he got to keep the item? Really?

So to sum it up....
The prick lied to me, collected insurance, kept my money, got his light returned from Fedex, told me to kiss his ***, and dared me to sue him after I said I would call the local PD there or a lawyer, after I found out.

I couldn't file a claim with paypal, only ebay, which got his eBay account suspended. Later he bragged about how he didn't care about ebay, his paypal account was still in good standing and was never suspended. Then proceeded to tell me it was my fault I didn't file claim with paypal in time and he was in the right. In hindsight I now know he was lying on purpose so that the windows of opportunity to file with paypal would expire.

Now, almost two years later.....
I hope that trailer park prick who lives with his mother is still enjoying my $141.50. Not really the end of the world or worth that much trouble. The local sheriffs office wouldn't do anything when I called them back then. I even gave them his address, had a photo of where he lived (google maps are great). Anyway.. lesson learned... eBay is getting more scammers every day. I still buy there, but make SURE I am completely covered now.

If by any chance you ever come across dealings with a Texan named JB Walker... run.

Landon :)

When Ebay works, it's very good, when it Fu-Bar's, it's a nightmare of a complete loss....

I'd be interested to know what type of feedback rating the JB Walker from Texas had Pre-Dispute.

I'm having an issue with a Tunze skimmer I just purchased on Ebay, the cup was cracked severely and the seller just replied to my email stating "It's under Warranty, I'll get you a new one, just send the old one back". I'm wondering how this can be the case, and what product warranty covers shipping damage?

He had a feedback around 25. All positive as far as I recall. I think he was mostly a buyer. I wonder how he got such good feedback with such warped ideas about who deserves what?

In what universe do I deserve to not even get the light, broken or not, no refund from paypal, nor the insurance payment? I mean he got double payment, and the light he could probably fix, and I got nothing but -$141.50.
