green algae specks

I have crusty green specks growing on the glass that have the texture of coraline but i have a hard time scraping it as everything is close to the acrylic and the mag cleaners don't help at all....any ideas?

maybe try blocking the light to it for a week or two to kill it and then try again with the magfloat

I've got the same stuff, I believe it is a form of coralline algae, the stuff isn't just purple-there's red, green. white.
Have you tried using a magic eraser scrub pad... just make sure you get the ones that don't have any cleaning chemicals added. A lot of people have said it is safe on acrylic, try it on a inconspicuous, small spot first.

or try it on the outside of your tank first to see if it leaves any scratchs and if it does you can easily buff it out
