GSP questions!

Ok I have some GSP in my tank, the weird thing is that the larger group in the pic is doing very well and spreading. The smaller colony is not doing so well, both are from the same mother colony. It's strange that one is looking as if it's dying and the other is thriving. So are they chemically fighting with each other or what?
