Blind this is totaly normal for GSP. For some reason they take a few days to get comfortable and open up sometimes it takes longer even up to a week. They will open and if they dont im sure you can get another frag for free. Nothing to worry about!

ok thanks. i found a couple growing on the frag plug on my open brain and they are open so i was wondering.

what about the elkhorn?

cant really tell new growth is sorta white at the top but the pictures are not that great for me to tell you if it is bleaching.

ill try to get some better ones later today. it is hard to get a clear close up with my sis's camera.

It will take some time as others have suggested (one week for mine to open) and then you will have to beat it off the rocks to stop it from overgrowing the area.

cameron do you mean i should take them off the rocks?

also i got some pics of the elkhorn i just need to upload them.

Depends on how you want them to grow. In a year, it will probably completely overgrow the rock it is sitting on. Mine grows probably 2 inches per month and that is conservative. I started with an inch and I now have 4-5 inches square in roughly two months. Todd considers this stuff a weed.

i am going to frag it along the way and i have one on the floor so ill see how it goes. thanks cameron.

NP... just keep an eye on it. Stuff grows FAST... faster than some algae.

i would prefer it to cover the rocks up. that means no space for alage or yellow polyps. hehehe.

also quick question can yellow polyps hurt frogspawns.

dont know why it did not come up

A frogspawn should beat back a yellow polyp I would think. Frogspawn are fairly aggressive actually. GSP in the correct environment will overtake everything that I know of.

good. i do not want the yellow to spread too much and they are right next to the frogs.

the yellow is gaining 2 polyps per a night.

what about the elkhorn? bleached or new growth?

Hard to tell from the pics, but looks like either crazy growth or bleaching.

cameron if you get a chance could you comeover and tell me if they are growing or bleaching. i live in timberland.
