WOW. I don't think that's something I want to risk with my tank, not at least until I get some more info and try other options.

On the Algae issue. I started my tank with tap, and then switched to rodi, I did see a pretty good diatom bloom, and then hair algae. but I didnt react to them, I just had a small CUC, and let it run its course, within a couple weeks the tank was clear again. If your tank is new, then do weekly water changes with good water, and it will eat itself to death and go away.

I personally saw it as a partial good sign, it meant my cycle was pretty much done, and the tank was now supporting life.
