Hair algae!

The OP is a minor. Vodka probably isn't a practical notion for him.

There are products available for carbon source dosing (which is what the vodka method is), that are legal for a minor to procure. That's one method...

yeah, that's prob not a good suggestion for this op!

ok, vinegar....lol

carbon dosing is prob not a great suggestion for a newbie, but I do know newbies that had great success with it...

ok, but for the op,

large weekly or twice a week water changes

you have a problem

you are adding more nitrates & phosphates to your system then you are removing, simple.....that's it! it's not lights, magic nor mirrors...

you certainly can get a clean up crew to get rid of what you have, YES!

and get yourself a reactor or a dual dual reactor, one with GFO (and one with carbon and change it weeky)....just put smalller amounts in....

that should do it...

feed veru small amounts of high quality food, a few times a day....

I've heard of sugar dosing, but carbon dosing seems a little advanced for some/most.

you could do better than $7 for a snail, that is insane. I paid 35c each for my astreas.

Sorry that i haven't posted anything. I've been really busy with school.

I'll sell you all of my Astraeas for five bucks each if you feel like saving some money...

Ammonia-0ppm
Nitrite-0ppm
Nitrate-20ppm
Ph8.2
Salinity-1.028
Some things are a little off but not that bad are they?

Salinity is high
Nitrates are high for reef

High nitrates is feeding the algae... I'd do 10-15% water change then again in 3 days to slowly bring your salinity down to 1.025

Ok. And if any one has a medium table or stand I can use for a frag tank I would love to take if off your hands.... I really want to set this up. It's a custom made 25 gallon.

+1 here. Gfo in a reactor. Changed weekly. If a reactor is not available use phosguard in a bag in a high flow area.

Just something to point out that has happened to me. Where is your fresh water coming from? I have let my ro/di filter changes get behind and could never rid the phosphates. I was just adding them back with water changes.

I use tap water and then use prime or buy the RO/DI water from Walmart.

Ouch!!!! I would edit your post and take that out. Lol. Here comes the bombs.

I would say that is your main problem. The water source. I would start getting your water from another member or a sponsor. And only use the Walmart water as a last resort. But then you need to buy a rodi ASAP.
