I have one of these, but I think the magnet is just too strong. It's says it is for acrylic 1/2" thick which I have, but it just "hammers" when I drag it across the tank. I wonder if that's why they call it a hammerhead. hah. Is there a way to resolve this?

Idk but I have the same problem with my mag float so I'm following along

Other than replacing it with a less powerful magnetic cleaner, you could cut some felt pieces, or anything that can go between the outside magnet and the acrylic (without scratching the acrylic), effectively pulling the dry magnet farther away from the wet side magnet of the cleaner, which makes it less strong.

Try moving faster. I found that my hammerhead jitters if I move it slowly. Only hard area is near the surface. Either the fast moving float or the jittering slow movement will splash.

I actually had some of the brown furniture pad stuff, that you cut to size. It's about 3/16 thick. Helped quite a bit.

What I normally do when I had that was to put a cut a piece is acrylic safe cleaning pads and place it on the wet side. It helped a lot with the jitter and it also cleans a lot better as well due to more surface contact provided by the pad.
