help for new build

I am about to start a new build. A 180 gallon display. The sump will be about 20 feet away in a fish room on the same floor as the display. I would like to use an external pump and keep the max flow possible. What size pump would yall recommend? I am probably going to use a separate pump for my skimmer and calcium reactor.

Do you have the sump placed below the the display tank level? There is a calculator on Reef central that will calculate the head loss you will develop in your system you will have to figure out how many fittings you will have and the type. You should not habve very much vertial head loss since it is on the same floor. As you use the calculator upsize the return pipe diameter and notice the significant lessening of the head loss.
How much flow from your return are you shooting for?
