Is boiling the rocks the only way to rid the tank of these? If so, do you buy a dollar store pan and boil them outside on the gas grill to eliminate the putrid smell that I know will happen. Just cutting them off with a razor made me sick. Also, I have zoes in the center of these rocks, how do I remove what I want to keep short of blasting caps. Thanks, Bubba

Break it up and sell them or give them away and just buy new rock. IME GSP can just be taken by the mat and pulled up.

My opinion would be sell the rock or trade to a lfs for new rock. Generally they will give you 2lbs for every pound you bring in.

+1 The mat is the purple base. Take the rock out, put it in a bucket with some of your last water change water and take a razor blade to the mat and pry it off. I'd suggest toss it in the trash but a lot new members love it. It really has a beautiful color it's just so invasive.

Id trade you a rock for yours if you did not live so far.. If you come to a meeting let me know ill trade you.

First, thank you for your service. My prayer every day is that all our heros protecting our backs come home safe and sound. I also volunteer at the VA hospital in Fl. I will be in Atlanta on August 12th...doctor's appointment and when we are up there we stay overnight with my nephew. He lives on Parrott Avenue. Could be that I could bring you up a rock then, God knows I have more that anyone could ever want. Thanks for the reply, Bubba

Let's plan on it bubba! Shoot me pictures and the lbs of rocks. I'll see what I have

Also no problem! Glad I had the opportunity to serve
