I was thinking that but it has a clear vivid mouth and the tentacles are pretty thick and nice colors.

Some LFS (not to be named) was going to sell me live rock covered in aiptasia back when I first started and thought that it was a neat little organism. Didn't buy it though(didn't really have the money) and when I learned what the anemone actually was, I won't go to that fish store again.

Sadly yes, I knew better but I just wants to make sure. I've never seen aiptasia look like this little guy before so I was uncertain really. It has thicker arms than the average aiptasia, has alternating colors among the tentacles.

Edit: Wanted*

A mojano for certain.

A certain now-out-of-business LFS sold a maintenance customer of ours a rock full of the stuff once :( We never did manage to get it eradicated - raccoon butterfly and countless chemical applications were a no-go.

Heck back in 2000, I was sold a rock with an aiptasia, knowingly, by a "kid" who worked in a LFS here in Metro. I'd had live rock 15 years earlier but had never seen aiptasia and when I saw the cute little anemone, the "kid" told me it was a free bonus.

That "kid" now writes articles in magazines and reef blogs and most people would recognize his name.

I'm really glad I didn't get this then. I've seen aiptasia but none like this one before. It would have been a wasteful 10 dollars.

This is not aiptasia. It is a majano. Glad you didn't get it.

And here I was thinking that majano and aiptasia were one of the same. I've never seen a majano until now, thanks everyone.

Thinking to self... And by the time you got to the bottom of this thread there could be two or more majano's in the tank. :) (they like to grow and grow fast)
