Is there anything that will get rid of red algae??? I have some that is growing on my sand and starting to creep up onto my lr...i remove it, and it continues to grow. I do a 10% water change weekly and am using rodi water. Any insight? Thanks in advance!!!

sounds like cyano bacteria. I've heard that old bulbs encourage it, but it's just feeding on your detritus. clean more and you can try chemiclean

increase your water flow in the tank so that it cant settle, decrease the amount of time the lights are on in the tank, keep on shiponing off the algae, and feed the tank less. Over time it will go away.

+2 I had it bad in my tank. Lots of water changes, less feeding, more water flow. When you do your water changes try and suck it out also that helped me.

Do your manual removal late in the day's light cycle. Cyano kind of recedes at night and "inflates" or "grows" during light, so at the end of the photoperiod it will be at its "largest"... meaning you can get more of it out by siphoning.

Is this algae thats grows on the sand brittle when you pick it up?.. or do I actually have coraline on my sand?
