I have a 125 g tank 72x18x24 and got the blue maxima clam from bobz and was wondering where is a good place to place it at..I have a 3-4 inch sandbed and have 3 250w halides about 6 inches from the water..right now it is on the sand bed is that good or should i move him up some..i have a squamosa that is on the sand bed and doing great it hs been there for 3 or 4 months...any help will be greatly appreciated...

Clam will not photosaturate. The higher, the better. He may be ok on the sand, but would certainly do better closer to the lights.

You'll be fine starting it off there....and can possibly leave it there too. I'd say move it up over the course of a few weeks (if you want) so it can acclimate to your lights. If you start seeing bad side effects, then you'll know to move it back down a bit.

The clam was directly under a 150W MH only about 3" from the top of the tank in my tank, and the light was maybe 4" above the water. It received about 8 hours of daylight. and four hours additional hours of actinic. I agree that you should slowly acclimate to the higher light and move it up gradually. Best of luck.
