My clam isn't opening up, or at least very much. I tried him in varying places on the sand bed, but it doesn't seem to like anyplace. He also keeps getting knocked over by my fish, which probably isn't helping. I now have him up on the liverock in a crevice where he can't get knocked over, but I read that they usually are on the sandbed. I have LEDs for lights. He's still alive, when you make a shadow over him he slams shut, but I'd like to save him. I'm going to see if he does any better higher up tomorrow. Any ideas/help?

Derasa clams are pretty hardy. How big is your tank and what kind of l.e.d.s are you running. Sounds like a light issue.
It wouldn't be from to much light. They are light hogs!! The only time mine ever closes is when the lights are out and even then, it doesn't fully close. I'd say that either something else is off or something is aggravating it.
Well, the clam hasn't opened up in a few days. I picked it up today and there were three bristle worms on the bottom of it, I shook two off but the other one crawled into the shell.. Does this mean it's likely dead? I thought clams opened up when they were dead?
Unfortunately, I'd say it's done. I've had the same thing happened. That's one reason why I don't like having clams on sand beds.
