I had a power outage the other day and when it came back on my skimmer overflowed and filled my catch container and into my stand. The reason it happen is when the pump came back on the water level was much higher in till my return pump caught back up. What can I do to stop this?

I put a backflow on my return. It only allows about 2 gallons down before the flap shuts and stops the water from entering the sump.

My controller delays the start of the skimmer until all pumps have been on for 2 minutes

What kind of controller do you have and how do you set that up ?

I thought if you positioned your return lines at DT water level that this would prevent any kind of siphon from happening, once the water level reaches below the overflow(s).

Bingo
It may not stop it all the way but this will help from letting to much back flow down into the sump which raises the water over the skimmer return which causes the skimmer to overflow. You could also add a battery back up and keep the pump and skimmer hooked up to it which could give you a hour or two if the power goes out .
