As stated in another thread, we have found a house and will begin moving in the next few days. We have to be out of my current house by the first of december.

This will give me 6 days to find a tank, build a filter, make +100g of RO, and get everything plumbed and running with +-50lbs more sand and +-60lbs rock... did i mention that I also need to move my 210 w/ 200lbs of rock, have a full time job and a big side job on friday??? Dunno how i'll pull this off, but somehow I manage to always make it work.

I want to be able to have a 93 cube set up in the new house by monday, the 22nd. This will only allow 9 days of stabilizing before 100+ corals(at least 50% SPS) and 13(small) fish will need to transfer from my 50g[assuming that I wait until the absolute last minute to move the fish and coral]. So this means that I actually have less than a week of the tank being set up to move the inhabitants over. I am not happy about this at all. I have moved plenty of tanks that have had just fish, or predominate LPS and softies, but SPS is a different story. If the temp swings too much during the transition, I'll be kissing most of my acros good-bye!

I'll have coolers that I can place "bagged" corals in, but a lot of my corals are encrusted on rock that would not fit in a bag. Buckets don't hold temp very well. This is going to be a hasty and tedious process. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Dylan

Personally I would not put the rock with coral in water it going to cause more problems then its worth. Most corals can be exposed to air for a long time without there being a problem.

The only coral I really worry about staying out of water is my miyagi tort. It is very healthy and pretty and I would be upset if I lost it. I'm going to frag it in the next few days and give to a friend. If mine dies, at least he will still have it to give back one day.

Understandable. But realize that acropora is a fairly tough species in some respects. I know quite a few people who have flown across the country with acros with out water in there carry on luggage. As well as acros in the wild experience tides where they can be exposed to air for 8+ hours.

well just move away from me before I even get to meet you!! LOL. I can help with some of the RO water. I'll call you later. when is a good time?

Charles, you should come check the tank out Friday evening. I have a few corals that I want to give you.

Let me know if you need a hand. I have taken whole week of Thanksgiving off and had planned a trip, but plans fell through.

when do you need the water? I will have about 26gal sometime this afternoon for you.

I'm near Acworth now, and have some free time the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, if I can be of any help. I'm off Wed for the Thanksgiving holiday, and would be happy for an excuse to bail on the in-laws for a few hours ;)

Thanks everyone. I'll probably be taking y'all up on your offers. I'll try to make it worth your while.

Charles, I prob won't need water til Monday. Thanks buddy!

Idea for the large encrusted rocks. I just had to do a break down/x-fer the styrophoam that large orders for the LFS are send home in. Get a roll of pallet wrap from Home Depot, and fill/wrap the boxes. They can be moved without worry of spill. Also, I have seen/heard many members on here offer to "house" some livestock for people during moves or emergency break downs. This may buy you a few more days for equilibrium.

Edit: Sorry just re-read that... JEBUS! Styrofoam, it will hold your temperature better than buckets and when wrapped properly you will have better luck of it not spilling in transit.

I'll be taking a lot of my birdsnests and montis and such up to work to hold until my tank is ready.

I'm sure the Zoas and LPS will be fine.

I haven't lost any coral in a very long time and hopefully won't this time.
