It like a clear translucent field of "I don't know what".

And lastly, how do I get rid of the brown button polyps (not aiptasia).

Thanks!

Hard to see much in the picture, but you might want to look at some photos of hydroids and see if they look like that.

Need a clearer picture. I concur they are either feather dusters (good) or hydroids (bad) - both are quite different from each other but it's too hard to tell from the photo.

Again, not close enough to see. Feather dusters are tube worms - small segmented worms that live in either a "rubbery" or calcareous tube. The "feathers" are their feeding organ and when they are startled, they will withdraw into the tubes.

Hydroids often resemble tiny polyps (not unlike button or zoanthid polyps, but much smaller).

Does that help?

I know some of the live rock I had a while back had huge amounts of the tiny feather dusters on it - if you happened to get some of that batch, it's likely feather dusters.

Hydroids can occur other ways but most commonly they turn up when live brine shrimp is fed - they come in with the live brine.

Thanks. I bought the LR from a hobbyist. I don't feed live brine, maybe she did. I am not going to go nuts over it. Thank you.
