Agreed if it is in a bucket with nothing else. But if it is trapped in the sand (remember there is already sand in the tank) the time will increase. More salt will desolate over time causing salinity to continue to rise.

pcmc3: How big is this tank? Anything less than 55 gallons may be worth just starting over. May not be worth the potential salinity fluctuations down the road if it doesn't cost too much to replace the sand, salt, and water.

We've all had our share of do-overs...
