Looking for something to coat my canopy on the inside, reflectors would be best, I know,

But due to the size/shape/circumstances are not feasible.

Anyone an idea - I basically need to convert the inside into a GIANT MH reflector.

Needless to say, needs to be fireresistant and somewhat reef-safe.

That sounds ...... mhhhh EASY! lol

Thanks for the input - focusing might not be very important to me, the tank is basically fully closed - the only way for the light is down in the tank...

White paint sucks... It is better then nothing but DOES absorb light. How big of an area you need to coat?!? I have DIY reflector in the garage depending on how much you need.

Thanks,

I'll snap a pic tomorrow - space isn't the main issue, more height compared with an odd shape due to other stuff in there...

Robb

20-24" in length - maybe a lil shorter.
On that pictured reflector, could I bend the 'wings' upward'?

And thanks - do you have a pic of the reflector?

I will try to get a pic of the reflector sheet tomorrow... but it looks like that spider reflector, just 36" long. On the spider reflector, you really do not want to bend it in any way. Changing the shape changes the way it reflects the light.

why not just glue in aluminum foil... better then white paint for sure

You can get a solar tube from HD and cut it to fit. If not, white paint will work.

+1 for the solar tube. They are cheap, about $25. They are as good at reflecting light as most reflectors. You just need some tin snips.

Help me folks, what the cuckoosness is a solar tube and quick google dind't help either...

Mylar is neat - but I have my doubts as far as heat goes.

Why not use this?

Where do you get this?

And I need something in 24" length - width is not important...

Very cool!

But they are not very reflective - best I saw was at 96% while a HD paintbrand claims to be 98.9% reflective...

Robb

The Anoluz Miro silver is 98%

But, if the HD one is 98.9, then that's better!

I'm so lost in this - the mirror finish of aluminum looks much more reflective than white paint.
Also, doesn't the surface play a major role for reflection?
If I paint the inside white with that paint,. the dull wood wouldn't reflect sugar...
