History of a Lobophyllia

Another succession of photos. This time the history of how I almost killed a Lobophyllia. May 2002, the lobo has suffered a setback from when I purchased it several years before. It was recovering... for now...

A little over a year later, August of 2003. Not looking good for the lobo...

2 years later in September of 2005. CA reactor on line and the coral is recovering (lower right of this picture)...

2 months later, amazing what good water quality can do for a coral...

Another 7 months later October of 2006. The awesome color is returning...

A very bad shot of this coral today Feb 2010. Look at my mature Purple Tang in the background for a size comparison. Someday I will get the guts to frag this thing...

WOW - if you decide to frag it, I would love to buy a piece. I lost a lobo with similar colors.

I soooo wish I had the funds to get a CA Reactor. well that and the know how.....that is yet another thing that when you guys start posting about I'm a lost ball in high weeds!

I remember seeing this in person a couple years ago - it's an awesome coral, and probably the best lobo I've ever seen. The pictures don't show off the orange colors that the coral has.

Hey Guys, thought I would update with a new pic I took today. It is roughly the size of a basketball these days. I am going to get serious and frag this sometime this summer.... I just can't capture the color of this thing very accurately. I guess I will have to bribe Chris to come over and school me on the finer points of picture taking!
