Does anybody know what these are? They are like translucent star fish...size of a pin head.

Little hydroids. Basically teeny tiny jellyfish. They're not a great thing to have but are very, very common. There are many types of hydroids so don't freak out when you do a google search. These little guys typically hang out and then just disappear. Some folks call them "soft hydroids" or "snowflake hydroids." Use those search terms and you'll get all the info you can handle. To make it simple, I can sum it up here: They aren't good, usually aren't really bad and there's no reasonable treatment for them. However, I've never known anyone to have an issue with them and lots of people have them.

Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know what they are. Wasnt finding anything on the internet and the pet store had no idea. Guess I'm stuck with them.

I don't want to be too dismissive since there are stories out there about these things getting out of hand but I've never known or heard of anyone personally having an issue with them. Typically they pop up in newer tanks and just go away. There are a lot of different types of hydroids found in the hobby and the majority of them aren't an issue. If I were you, I wouldn't worry much about them.

I'm not. Just keeping an eye on them. I'm new to the hobby and just making sure I'm not missing anything. Tank has been up and running for 2 months now and totally addicted. Thanks again!
