Hitchhiking... fish? What is this?

This is so weird... this guy appeared in my frag tank. Woke up this morning and I see him on the glass. I bought a piece of live rock a few days ago so he must have come in on that.
Does anybody know what this is? He seems like some type of suction fish or something

I will try to get a better pic.. pretty much all black/dark grey with some white rippling on tail
Definitely alien like, to the point I am afraid to put my hand in the tank lol

Wow, just googled it and thats it for sure. I have never heard of or seen these before. Is he okay in the frag tank you think?

Generally, yes, they are reef safe and often much enjoyed peaceful fish.

I saw one awhile ago in the live rock at The Fish Store and the employees that day couldn’t identify it for me. Glad to learn about it now
