We have only been in the hobby a couple of months and are in need of a new skimmer soon. The one we have works sometimes, so I think it's time to start the research for purchasing a new skimmer. What is a good, reliable well functioning HOB skimmer that won't break the bank?!!

Just to clarify
You have a non drilled tank and want to get water to the sump or are you talking about a protein skimmer
If it is to get water to the sump i have one.

Just a protein skimmer. Non drilled tank and no sump. It's a 55 gallon tank. I searched online and there are a lot of choices!

Aquamaxx uses the sicce pump, pulls great skimmate, and has never let me down! Now watch it will break because I said that! Lol

nope, would not be a good idea. it could be done but... i would not want to.

Remora C or CPR. Either have worked very well for me although I think I liked the CPR a little better. There's a Remora for sale in the threads.

I have a Reef Octopus BH1000 that I have been running on my 65 gal for about 7 months. It is rated for up to 100 gals and I have had no problems and it works very well. Got it for a great price on Amazon.

i just set up a Bubble Magus NAC5E. from what i've read it's a great skimmer. i'm still breaking it in though

CPR is the best one, IMO. They've been around forever and they're not massive and invasive like some other brands.
