Since I've been adding more fish/corals into my 90g I've been thinking of making my own food for the tank. I know I've seen some people on here make their own but can't seem to find the thread(s). After some searching on RC I've found a few things people like to add to their mixes.

Bag of frozen mixed seafood (shrimp, clams, squid)
various fish
fish roe
mysis or other frozen fish foods
nori
selcon
pellets
vodka/sugar
RODI

Anything else you guys like to add to your homemade food? I was thinking hitting up the H-Mart this weekend to see about getting some stuff cheaper, like the seafood.

I used to make my own food all the time. Worked really well and was cheap. Somewhere on ARC there should be a thread about it from about 2008. Anyways, there is no real recipe. I used to use seafood mix from Super H Mart (it was cheap there and did not contain cooked shrimp), Some fish parts (also cheap at Super H), Spirulina (Good source of B Vitamins), Different typed of micro food for filter feeders (like Reef Chili or Marine Snow), and then pretty much anything else I had on hand. I used to get a lot of products sent to me for testing and if they were any good at all I would mix the left overs in with my mix.

I would blend everything with some phyto and then freeze it flat in zip lock bags. I would try to keep it thin like 1/4" to 1/2" so it was easier to break off what I needed. A little would go a LONG way.

Hope that helps.

BTW: I would not add sugar/Vodka to it.. These things should be dosed in exact amounts and adding it to food would not be an exact science. On top of that, if it is absorbed by the food you will have drunk fish which is not a good thing for them to ingest. Just my thoughts.
