i know you can't 'force' clowns to host...but has anyone ever had a ocellaris host with a gbta??

saddening. i've waited for a few weeks and nothing

How long have both things been in your tank? Where does the Ocellaris hang out now?

I have 2 that do. It took about a month before they found it.

I've seen a few stores take the rock the nem is on, and put it in a basket with the lip of the basket above the water level. Then just catch the clowns and put em in there. They should figure it out pretty quick.

LOL. i think i'm going to try that. hmmmmm. how to make a DIY thing for this....lol

the fish were in there for like 3 months and dont host anything. they just swim all over the tank and at night sleep in the back left or front center. they don't even run through my torch coral.

i've only had the bta for like a month.

actually i got a better one. how does putting the rock and nem in a corner, and putting a square eggcrate down in there and trap the fish and nem together? or do u think they wont host still since they can swim above it?

I think anything blocking light to the nem is a bad idea. And clowns may squeeze through the eggcrate if they want to.

I 'forced' mine to get close with the nem :) then after the nem climbed out of the isolation chamber I had to release the clowns and they found the nem and haven't left it.

Mine have been together for almost 5 months now and i still have nothing either, just let it happen in my opinion...

I've heard of people having success of taping a picture to the tank of clowns hosting and it has worked before. It took my clowns a good year before they got in my hammer. Now they hardly ever leave it 2 years after that.

I'm not a fan of forcing either. My Ocellaris (8 years old) will host in BTA, and Frogspawn... and just about anything they want to lay claim to. I didn't introduce them to an anemone for the first few years, and they took to a BTA while temporarily in my sell system during a system upgrade.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Sometimes it's fairly "instant" - sometimes it's not.

BTW, if you try to corral it with eggcrate, the anemone may squeeze through the eggcrate - I've seen that happen. Years ago in an LFS we waited 3 hours for the BTA we wanted to buy, to finish squeezing through the eggcrate that was being used as a tank divider.

When I bought my GBTA it was attached to the egg crate used as a tank divider. They had to cut the egg crate to sell it to me. He let go shortly after I got him in my tank..
