How big do copepods get?

A few days ago I was looking through my tank and I saw something about the size of the fingernail on your small finger that looked like a crustacean. I couldn't get a good look at it because it was very fast and darted under the rocks. I didn't really think anything of it, but then yesterday I saw a copepod (this time I got a clear few) about the size of a big grain of rice. What I want to know is this normal, or do I have monster copepods or something like that?

Sounds like amphipods to me. If so they are fine. A pic will help

If you cut that pic into into 4 parts (one horizontal cut, and one vertical cut, like a +) that is how big the big one I saw for a split second. I am just afraid that it might be a mantis shrimp or something bad like that.
