I have a 150 gal acrylic tank 60x24x24
I am thinking about the Tek 6 or 8 bulb 48" fixture
I don't want to put any holes in my ceiling
anyone have any idea how to mount this fixture
I see the mounting bracket that sits on the tank, I am not sure if it can be moded to fit my setup

Also should I go with the 6 or 8 bulb set up

I decided to use electrical conduit for the bracket
putting holes in the ceiling was not an option
I have put enough holes in the house already to accommodate this tank

That looks good. I have the legs on mine but they look pretty clunky. I don't think they would have expanded enough for your tank.

I like the way it looks. :) I much prefer something like this than to have lights mounted in a closed-top canopy.

it is looking good. I like the color of your lighting. how is your bulbs config?

2 actinic +
2 URI pure actintic
2 aqua plus
2 11,000k

I have to check the squence when I get home also what's in the fixture I might be wrong on the 11,000k

I might have a 48" 8 bulb tek light for sale in a week or two....

I like those two stands that you have that the light hangs off of -- where did you get them?

How does your stand sit on the ground? Me and my buddy are wanting to build something similar for my Solana. Looks great.

home depot
I use 3/4" electrical conduit, bend them 90 deg with a standard pipe bender
painted them black and put plastic caps in the hole so it don't look se ruged
I used hanging chains from lowes, hardware department and hooks and a nut
hanging from the end.( I did not drill the hole through both side of the pipe I put the nut in the pipe and screw the hook in that way)
I then bolt them to the stand with four 3/4" pipe clamp

if you need anymore detail let me know, I will be hapy to share

Way Kewl!

I personally have never liked a canopy. It's like fuzzy toilet tank covers so popular years ago. I guess tanks, be it fish or toilets look betterwithout a hat.

Could you tell me how it's mounted to the floor or do you got any pictures of the bottom of it. I am wanting to mimic that set up for my light I am getting.

We can cut you custom legs for your lights at My Reef Creations. We've done several for our Southeast Aquariums installations and they work great. We've cut them using both acrylic and sheet PVC. The acrylic legs looks pretty sweet on top of an acrylic tank. I'll see if I can find any pics.

Call Tim or Raj tomorrow to give dimensions and work out pricing.
