i have a gbta...it started out huge but has slowly become smaller over time...its become darker green as well...the mouth seems to have moved from mostly center to about a half inch from the side...when they split does the mouth move to the side first then split through the mouth or does it just start splitting from the sides and then another mouth develops?

I noticed mine developed 2 feet weeks before it split but it got really damaged during a transfer

hmm, tonight i added another powerhead...its not aimed at the anemone but theres definately more flow in the tank..now its all shrivelled up behind a rock..not a good sign i guess

ive had it a few months now..its opened up a bit after the lights went off...it closed itself up completely for about an hour and is gradually opening back up..hopefully hes just getting use to things

If it's shrunk since you got it, it's losing weight.

Do you feed it meaty foods?

i feed it frozen formula 1...should i get something meatier?

Edit: about a quarter of a cube every 2-3 days

We feed ours a piece of krill or silverside once or twice a week.

Depends on the size of anemone. Most can gobble up a piece of krill pretty quickly. If the anemone is large, a whole silverside, if it's smaller, a half.

I say they have a mind of their own and do what they want. I can say feeding is a big part of it to be happy. I would give it more time and see what happens with it.

I have a rose bubble tip that split within three weeks of getting it! It simply looked like someone was pulling it from both sides for about two days and then it completely split right down the middle. I have two very aggressively hosting clowns and I wondered if that may have contributed to the quick split. The clowns were pleased! I can't say that I noticed it develop a second mouth before it split but it was probably there.
