How do you acclimate your corals?

I drip acclimate, then do a 5-10 minute Coral Rx dip, look for eggs, then do a 4 hour interceptor bath if it is an SPS, then into the tank.

I usually float the bag for a good twenty mins. Then I poke holes in it to get a ghetto/lazy drip going. After that I just toss it in.

Do you not worry about putting other peoples water in your tank. I've always heard not to get any in the tank.

I always figured that if their corals are happy and healthy that it can't be that bad. I did get flat worms, but they come from rocks.

I would keep other's water out of my tank. You never know what might be in there. Easy way to introduce redbugs, AEFWs, ich, bryopsis or some other bug/pest that could run thru your tank and kill you rfish.

The whole process of dipping/inspection/QT is to help minimize the introduction of pests.

come on folks dont be shy! i used to be super picky about how i acclimate corals, now i just drop em in! unless i feel the temp is way way diff, then i will let em float for a while! i havent had any probs, now fish, thats a totally diff story!

i failed to mention i usually dip everything in coral rx first so if you consider that acclimation then yup!

I just threw a few test frags from my 20 gallon into the new system without acclimating. They're all doing just fine. However, when I buy corals from a store, I alway acclimate slowly, and I'm going to start dipping.

I dump the water from the bag and the coral into a bucket, then add coral RX. After that, I look for any pests that fall off (benefit of using a 1 gallon white bottomed bucket). If I see none, I throw them right into the tank. If I see pests, I make the decision to toss the corals or QT. Usually toss them b/c I don't have the time/patience to QT. I don't dip with interceptor. I've had red bugs once, and they were super easy to eliminate. More of a nuisance than a real harm to corals.
Remember, a lot of corals are exposed to air (temp changes) during tides. They are A LOT more hardy to conditional changes than we give them credit for, IMO.

I float in the bag for about 30 minutes then drop right in but not the water. I am goiing to be picking up some dip to add to this routine

Not an exact amount, but a large OD. I have only had one coral be sensitive to a mega dose of Interceptor. No need to treat any tank with more than 1 large breed pill per 380 net gallons of water, but since it is just coral in a couple gallons of water, an overdose is not an issue. I keep some Interceptor powdered up in a vial and just add a small amount to the coral in a 2 1/2 gallon aquarium. I also place a small powerhead and a 50 watt heater in there. Let simmer for 4-6 hours then into the tank.

RBs may be relatively easy to deal with, but a separate coral bath is easier for me with a 425 net gallon system to have to treat if they got into my entire system.

I frag everything to plug size or smaller. Nothing stays on it's original rock or disk. Even when I switch n my tanks. After detailed inspection dip it. Pull it out reinspect then hook shoot into qt

I do temp acclimation, Brightwells Lugols dip, then in the tank....

I float my corals to get them to temp take them out let them get all good a slimy and toss them in the tank. As the slime wears off the adjust to the tank. I tried the whole drip thing and I loss more corals that way. I have never lost a coral doing it the way I do know

+1 I do the same. I temp acclimate for about 15 min. then I pour some of my own tank water in the bag every 5 min. I do that about 3 to 4 times then I toss it in my display.
