How do you heat 300gal water?

I don't heat my water and the tank is 420g I just have 2x250w and 400w mhs and all the pumps and stuff heat the water.

yeah, guess I should've clarified. You won't need those heaters most days because your equip. and lights will keep water pretty warm-but on some colder days/nights they could be needed-and you don't want a temp. spike (or dip) which could be detrimental to some delicate corals and help maintain a constant temp.

im looking to run the HQ 8 bulb T5s only though will this still work?

I'd throw 4 x 250w Stealth heaters in the sump on a temp controller and be done with it. That's what I'm doing...

I run 8 T-5 and no heater and my tank stays around 78-80 just from the lights and the heat in the house.
