How do you research fish?

So let's say you're thinking about adding a particular fish to your aquarium. Other than posting a question here or on another board (or asking your LFS), what resources do you use to research the fish to find out if it's a good fit?

liveaquaria for a very quick glance (I don't ever make a decision out of what I read from them though). Then I head to wetwebmedia.com. I use WWM for most decisions I make.

I have used their site also and I have purchased corals and fish from them and they are nice people to deal with.

I google the fish and check the first 10 or so, it usually includes Live Aquaria and some of the top companies that sell fish.

Always Live Aquaria For Temperment, Difficulty, Diet, Tank Size, Etc Then Google Peoples Experiences!

WetWebMedia.com has literal doctors and published authors responding for free to community questions. They have a huge archive of information from years of questions.

I'll take their recommendations any day over some random forum post from a search engine.

whew! I was wondering if I was the only one... Their site is kinda cumbersome to navigate but once you get used to it you can fly through it pretty easily.

Agreed. Their site is user un-friendly to look at. Its nice to be able to read 'professional' answers from a team with a perspective shaped by years (or decades) of experience.

This hobby has such a huge a turnover that it is hard to know who, on a hobbyist level, to trust.

I use these strange things with paper and cardboard covers.... I think they used to call them books?

All of these suggestions are great, I can add that RC has a few threads on difficult fish, i.e., Leopard Wrasses, Tamarin Wrasses, Mandarins, etc. that have some great knowledge. Also, asking someone that has kept a certain species for a number years successfully is great!
