How do you set up BRS dual reactor?

I just got a BRS dual reactor today, and the tubings that came with the unit does not fit into any of my pump. What's the best way to deal with this? Also, for all who have experience with this unit, what's the best flow rate and/or pump that you would recommend?

get 3" of 1/2" ID tubing shove it on a maxijet and shove the tubing that came with the unit on the other end.

GFO should be at a slow tumble, carbon should be packed tight.

so fill GFO about 2/3 and carbon all the way?
What MJ do you use? MJ 400 or 600 or 900? There's a gray ball valve that came with it, should I use that to restrict the flow from the MJ to the unit?

Felix, the challange with the dual reactors is that the flow has to be set for the GFO which is usually less than what you normally run through carbon. I use the single ones with MJ900s all the way open for the carbon and use the valve to slow it down to a slow tumble like EnderG60 said for GFO. The BRS web site has a good video showing how to adjust the GFO.

Keep in mind you will want to figure out "how much" GFO your tank calls for (different brands recommend different amounts I believe), and start out with 1/4 to 1/2 that amount and build up to it over a few weeks. You don't want to go full force with a bunch of GFO because some evidence <u>suggests</u> that it could cause issues with SPS.

So is it ok if I set the flow rate low for both carbon and GFO? Does carbon require a higher flow rate or is it ok running at the same flow rate as GFO? I saw the video, but I really prefer the input from someone who has been using the product because that's always the true input. Manufacturer's instructions and statistics usually apply to ideal situations IMO.

Carbon doesn't require any particular flow rate, but the more water you can flow over it the better. I would have the carbon chamber full and have the GFO chamber filled with the correct amount, and then adjust the flow so the GFO "bubbles" on the surface, but isn't tumbling around. And I can't remember if you're supposed to put one or the other first...

The 2 chambers are marked "GFO" and "Carbon", and the 2 ends are marked "IN" and "OUT", so I guess it was designed in that order.

It was designed that way so if you get a bubble burst in the GFO that sends the media out of the chamber you have a chance of the carbon chamber catching it.

As was said, though, don't forget to start with about a quarter of the desired amount of GFO and gradually increase it over a couple of months.

thanks everyoone. I think I'll start with some small pump. Any one has a MJ 400 or so laying around FS?
