How do you wash/clean filter socks?

I'm curious what's the best way to clean these? Someone told me to spray with water hose, soak in clorox, throw in washer, then soak in RO/DI and it's ready. Do I have to do all these steps or is there another way? My wife does not allow these to go into her washer at all. I'm using the 100 micron filter and it overflows every 2 days that I have to keep washing it, but I don't think I do a good job because it only works for 2 days or so after each wash.

Try soaking in bleach water or peroxide, rinse, let dry.

Should be good to go.....

(little known, but peroxide is a great cleaner of biological matter and gets them as white as bleach does)

Toss them in the washer with a little bleach and an extra rinse cycle, thats all I do...do this when she isnt home, she'll never know. And if she finds out, remind her who bought the washer...lol

Anything but the washer thing, regardless of who bought it. This will give her a good reason to buy another washer, which I'm avoiding.

I do what Gary does.....may wanna get a few spare filter socks....and I bought the washer and dryer too but she still get mad when I wash them in there....

You guys aren't doing something right...

I have an extra set of socks and I swap them out, turn the dirty ones inside out and leave them out to dry..

when they're dry, I let her know that it's alright for her to wash them..

Not to mention she better have that sandwich ready and it better be piled high and good eating..

I have about 10 that I swap out every few days, I let them dry too. mine have the ring so its hard to turn inside out.

oh, allright - just use the hose and a good soak for you ppl who are on washer lockdown

heck, id take them to the laundrymat - dont need to dry it just a quick wash.

This is exactly what I do with mine.

BTW, mine are 200 microns and need to be replaced every 3 days.

I have a full wash load as we use socks at the shop....

I wash in bleach only, with 2 rinses, I put Prime or Alpha in the first rinse.

Then I hang 'em up in the garage to dry.

I tried using Oxyclean instead of bleach (it's similar to peroxide) but it didn't oxidize the crud... and our socks get DUR-TEH. So back to bleach it was. It's not just about getting them white, it's about breaking down the junk that accumulates in them.

Sooner or later, socks do lose their moxy and need to be replaced.
