how long????

after the clown died today i did a 50% waterchange i bought a box fish from nemos world for the 33 about 2 weeks ago he died after getting stuck to the power head the next day... i couldnt find him about a day later i found him he was already starting to rot...at the time i didnt know they were ven. so i didnt do anything to the water and hadent done anything since then...i talked to a guy on the forum today and he said it was possible there was still toxins in the water from the box fish.....thats why i decided to do a 50% water change and i added new carbon......this is in my 33gal btw.....

He didn't die from getting stuck to a powerhead.. I have never seen a healthy fish get trapped on a powerhead(unless it took a nose dive into one)
It died from some other cause and just floated over to it..

in that case he was probably just very weak and on his way out, a healthy fish will have the strength to swimm away from the draw of the powerhead. How many fish have you lost since this incident?

idk y he wouldnt have been fine unless it was just a bad fish

There are somefish that are better off left in the wild, the only cowfish i know of that are alive in captivity are being kept by very experienced individuals or facilities. I have never brought one into the store, although I have a long list of fish that I will not bring in, as my experience continues to grow that list will grow a little smaller.

well i got it from nemos world......i didnt know much about it he just looked kool so i got him(in truth girl friend wanted him) using api test kit it has 4 test tubes with 2 bottles for ammonia, 2 for nitrate and 1 for nitrite and 1 for high ph

I wonder if this is the same as Nemo Fish. Aaron is known for having some of the most amazing show fish. He once had this 16" Koran Angel that just took your breath away. Great guy. Just make sure you do your research before taking new little ones home, they kinda of depend on you. Save the impulse purchases for coral! :D

Look through some of the threads concerning API kits. Some people will swear by them, the overwhelming majority (including myself) have seen horrifically inaccurate results. I started with API too, I had no idea how bad mine were off till I went to seachem and Salafert kits. Get the test results verified by your LFS first to make sure your kit is OK. Next before adding any more live stock I would do at least a couple more water changes (20%) over a couple weeks to make sure if there are toxins in the water they are VERY diluted or inert. Take your time. This is not an instant gratification hobby. Do everything slow. Do research before you get a fish. Know what it eats, special habits, if it is known to be a hearty or fragile fish.

sorry for the paragraph but plenty of us have learned the hard way, the knowledge out there is worth listening to because everything you can come across in this hobby someone is bound to have been through it already.

Question, Are you running a skimmer on that 33? Is there anything alive other than rock in it right now? I assume that this tank was established for 3 years but you recently took over the tank?

I apologize if I assumed anything incorrectly. We would like to know how to help you.

no skimmer and a clown a regal and a panther grouper all are fine happy and eating did a 40% water change today added carbon yesterday can some one send me a link to a GOOD ACCURATE test kit thx

This is a very hardy and long-lived animal provided it is kept in an ample-sized, fish-only aquarium of 300 gallons or larger, with sufficient filtration. They grow rapidly, so be sure that the tank you have them in is of sufficient size. The Panther Grouper will eat any fish and invertebrates it can swallow.

Check out the sponsor forum and find the store closest to you. Pm them and see if they have either one of the two suggested to you. Good job on the carbon by the way. Way to be on top
