Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm running two surge protectors and they are completely filled. I don't have enough outlets for my equipment. Surely I must be doing something wrong, as my set up is only a 65g with sump and fuge.

4 outlets for the MH light
2 outlets for my Tunze pumps
2 outlets to operate small pump and light for the fuge
1 outlet for the skimmer
2 outlets to operate the UV Sterilizer
1 outlet for heater
1 outlet for return pump
1 outlet for grounding prob (which I don't have an outlet for, so not currently using)

I probably just need to get better surge protectors with more outlets, but wondered what people with these huge setups did for outlets.

Also, would really like to see pictures of your surge protectors to see if its just mine that looks like an insurance claim waiting to happen.......

Same here. I've got two surge protectors filled, and I had to run an extension cord for my Koralias.

uhmm
1-skimmer
4-lights
2-p/heads
1-return
1-heater
1-pump refugium
1-light refugium
1-fan

think thats it and thats only a 54 gallon

I had to unplug the blue night light on my tank to run my last Tunze.... I'm looking for a good deal on a bigger surge protector.....

Lets see:

2 Return Pumps
3 Powerheads

1 Oceans Motions 2 Way
1 150W MH Light over Frag
1 2X96 PC Light over Frag
1 Moon light over frag
1 air pump for phyto
1 light for phyto

I think I have 5 Power strips and one of the lighted toggled strips. I don't even want to think about how much $ all thats costing!:confused2:

2 400w mh
2 250w mh
2 actinics
2 sump fans
2 tunzes
1 skimmer
1 return pump
1 ozone monitor
1 ozone reactor
1 ground probe
1 heater
1 calcium reactor pump
1 calcium recirc pump
1 co2 regulator
1 rk2
2 cabinet lights
1 power pac for actuators
1 canopy vent fan

I just noticed your signature, Skriz.

Gooney goo goo, Gus! What the f**k is that?! He came up with a fish in his mouth!

(1) 3- 250w MH on a single cord/outlet, but 3 seperate timers
(2) skimmer pump (mag 18)
(3) closed loop pump (mag 12)
(4) return pump (little giant 5 mdsc)
(5) 300w heater
(6) MJ pump for auto top off
(7) MJ pump in fuge
(8) fuge light
(9) 12v power supply for LED Moon's
(10) 2- 54w T-5 lights on single plug/timer (actinic suppliments)
(11) Kroialis pump for added circ in display
(12) 2- 240cfm cooling fans single cord/controller

All this along with a stock Nanocube 12DX running me around $100/mo

3 outlets for solaris light
2 outlets for my mod maxijet pumps
1 outlet light for the fuge
1 outlet for the skimmer
1 outlets to operate the UV Sterilizer
1 outlets to operate the maxijet for the UV
2 outlet for heater
1 outlet for return pump
-----------------------------------------
12 all running on a nice 12 outlet ps mounted to the stand then to a APC Smart 700 UPS.

LOL! "Gus, you say you met your wife camping...she's a bigfoot isn't she? You shaved her down and taught her how to walk..she can't climb a flight of stairs, i bet she can climb the **** out of trees though!" :lol2:

you're the first one to catch that!

Here's my solution... I now have 32 outlets, or two per switch. All enclosed in a little box under my tank.

2: T5's
1: VHO's
1: main pump
1: CL pump
1: OM 4-way
1: Co2 regulator solonoid
1: Ca reactor pump
1: pH controller
1: ORP controller
2: Vortech pumps
1: fans
1: ACjr
1: Ozone generator
1: air pump
2: fuge light
1: skimmer pump
1: Heater
1: electric canopy lift

Chiller and chiller pump are on a third circuit; the above are divided across two circuits I installed for the fish tank...

i'm sure I've forgotten a few...

main pump
2 powerheads
2 for skimmer
2 for lights
fans
2 heat
one pump in sump
auto top off
ph moniter
13 total and more to come lol

Lets see:

5 MH
6 Tunze 6100
2 Tunze wavebox
4 heaters
3 for the calcium reactor (1 feed and one recirc and one CO2 solinoid)
4 for the autotopoff solienoids
2 for the skimmer (a feed and a recirc)
2 for chiller (one the actual unit and one feed pump)
1 return pump
1 moonlight
1 pump for the phosban reactors

So looks like 31 plugs and that doesn't even count the saltwater aging/water changing bin or any quarentine tanks, etc.

Ah! Yeah, well......

The city council asked me to please refrain from DIY'ing things that look like that!

I don't claim to be up to code... The two circuits are on GFCI's though!

You think that looks scary, though? You should see it with all the devices plugged in!

I found an ebay seller who has belkin surge protectors starting at 99cents on auction, so they;ll sell for a lot more. Would anyone be interested in a heavy duty serge protector that had eight outlets, but two of the eight were spaced further apart for plugs that have the ballast/transformers on the plugs. Thats part of my problem, large plugs blocking the outlet beside the one the large plug is using. I put in a question to the seller if he'd accept a bulk payment for several of these....... anyone interested? Two would be enough for my tank with outlets left over.

Thinking about starting a new thread on the question, but thought about a computer battery back up for my tank. The battery back up could keep my mag 5 running in case of a power outage. Would that work? They are cheap on ebay.
