I have five tanks going:

240 gallon FW species tank: 2 x 40 watt NO Flourescents-80 watts total

265 gallon planted tank: 3 x 250 watt halides-750 watts total

210 gallon reef: 3 x 400 watt halides-1200 watts total

100 gallon reef: 1 x 400 watt halides-400 watts total

60 gallon reef: 1 x 250 watt halide-250 watts total

80 + 750 + 1200 + 400 + 250 = 2680 watts of light!:eek:

I just removed the 3 x 250 watt halides from my 265 gallon FW planted tank (now a FW community tank) and replaced with a 2 x 40 watt flourescent strip, so I now have only 2010 wattts of light over my tanks!:D

This is in a large volume finished basement area of the house, so the heat is not quite as bad as you'd think with all this light.

I guess i'm just small change with mine'

90 gallon cyano tank = 300w MH + 260w VF = 560w

4x54 = 216 over the 75

2x65 = 130 over the 10

2x175 + 2x110 = 570 that will be over the 90, not yet, though.

Dave when I grow up I want as many tanks as you. :) To the folks that have not seen Dave's set ups you are missing out......

90 DT 2 x 250W MH, 2 x 96W actinic, 4 x 65W actinic, refugium is getting 175W MH. 16G bowfront 70W MH, frag tanks will each have 1000W MH's.
1437 watts minus the not yet online frag tanks.
Thinking of upping the 250's on the 90 to 400's...

Display - 3x250w + 4 x 96w actinics
Frag - 2 x 250w
30G cube - 4 x 40w T5 HO
Holding Tank - 4 x 29w pc
Sump - 2 x 36w pc
Fuge - 1 x 100w HD light

Total = 2082

Dang, didn't realize I was in the 2000w+ club.

Holy Toledo......I don't feel so bad now!:D

4 x 400w = 1600w on my tank (used to be 2x1000w...)
2x 432w = 864w on Christine's
1x 175w = 175w on frag (sorely underpowered)

= 2639w total

... and I've been doing what I can to get that number down - I used to be over 3000w. What's hurting me is the power draw across multiple circuits. I pull ~36amps + 11amp 230v chiller, for 47amps at full load, or 6850 watts with all the lights and the chiller on...
