You've got me beat! I was 5 then. If you count Ernie and Bert the goldfish, I started when I was 3 (1970) but since they didn't last long, I doubt that counts LOL! (And they weren't SW...)

We need to start a sub-group for old farts. Another board has the 'OFR' club - Old Fart Reefers. :lol:

I set up my first tank in 1979 and ran for about 8 years, before moving to Atlanta. Set up tanks in Atlanta when I first got here for about three years before taking a break for 15 years and starting up again in 2006. So I guess I have had tanks running for about 15 years on and off!

It was a 10 gallon Metaframe with a slate bottom and a metal reflector. It didn't last long. It became a rusted mess and my mom made me toss it after the sole occupant (blue devil damsel) died. The silicone tanks were just starting to come out and the rumor was they were unreliable and the seams always split. My first aquarium was in 1966/67. I've been addicted ever since.

< 1 year for me. After a 5-6 hiatus, I had fresh for 10 years.

3 years of research and 1 year of pleasure/pain. I'm a slow starter but I come out with a bang! hahahaha. It feels like 10 or more if that counts.
