how often do you top off tank?

My tank is going on 9 months without an ATO and it's a major PITA to always fill it. Luckily it's only 20 gallons, but I'm sure my inconsistency has led to less than favorable conditions throughout its life.

My JBJ ATO and lifter are in the mail as we speak. I don't know what took me so long to get one.
