How to bring PH down...

Close the windows and run in place. Oh wait, as full of hot air as you are, I am sure it isn't a lack of CO2. :-) Seriously though, I am following. I don't have the problem now but may run into it one day.

I've always heard that if you add baking soda it will bring the PH down. I used to use it in freshwater all the time but haven't tried it in a saltwater tank.

Stop breathing heavy next to the tank!

Edit: the Ca reactor should bring the pH down.. what is the effluent reading. Do you dose Kalk could something be wrong with doser?

Are you dosing Kalk? What is raising pH?

I bet your pH is not as high as you think it is...

Baking soda has a pH of 9 therefore it is a base and will not lower your pH. Would not add that to your tank. Your pH will also be a little different when your lights have been on for a while vs. when your lights have been off for a while.

My average pH has been 8.35 daytime and 8.28 night time. I came home and tank was over heating (84.3) and light had shut off. The pH was at 8.49

Edit: I am not dosing kalk

Edit: Effluent flow is about 1.5 drops per sec

Temperature changes measured pH values. Are you using a probe? Here is a good read on how temp changes pH.

Orlando baking soda has a pH of 9!

So you are running a CA reactor and not dosing Kalk... I find it hard to believe your pH is REALLY that high. I would look at cleaning and re-calibrating your probe.

I learned the other night that you just need to invite a bunch of people over to your house. My pH dropped from 8.36 to 7.93 in two hours.

I got the same problem, my ph is like 8.5 area and im going recalibrate the probe once i get back. Let me know what you end up doing thanh

And let me know if you wanna trade that cr8 for something smaller, like a cr 6

Let me know if you can't find any. I couldn't find anyone locally had both 7 and 10 so I ordered a bunch from BRS.

Baking soda raises it. Acid brings it down. I wouldn't worry about it too much at 8.5 as long as it is stable. If you really want to bring it down, add about a drop of Muriatic acid. About a 1/3 gallon of that stuff brings my 25,000 gallon pool down 2/10ths.
