I was away for a few days and apparently one of the fish knocked over my Hollywood Stunner. It was laying on top of my Frogspawn, upside down for about 3 days. As you'll see in the pic, there is some die back. Should I break away the dead area? If not, what should I do with it, if anything? Pic was taken this morning under my morning T5's (10k) before the rest of my lighting comes on.

I'd give it a "haircut" and get rid of the dead stuff, and perhaps give it a dip in Reef Dip or similar.

If it crashes on you - let me know - I have a ton of that, I will give you a piece of my big monster.

I hope it does well,I have a piece about as big as a soft ball around and it started bleaching out on me?So I moved it under a rock and it seems like its getting its color back around the edges. What do you think I should do with it Jenn?

It's hard to kill. Mine is about 2' across now. What's your temp, Sprinklerman? I have mine under 800 watts of MH so I doubt that too much light is the issue, but my system has a chiller on it. I've grown mine under weak PC for the first few years then under MH since - and most who have seen it will vouch that it's a monster.

Check your params, esp. your temp, but it should come back just fine.

Edit: Added pictures. One of view through the glass, another of view from the top.

Holy cow Jenn....that's a nice one!! I'm going to cut back the dead areas and see what happens. I have another frag already started that's doing well for right now.

Got it as a thumbnail-sized frag about 6 years ago. We've taken literally dozens of frags off it over the years. It would easily be twice the size it is now if we'd never pruned it.

It needs pruning again - it's growing over itself and killing itself underneath. The guys took everything else out of the prop tank last week and moved it. Today they are going to scrub down the prop tank (it's overrun with blue cloves LOL) and rearrange. The Stunner is growing above the surface again so we're going to have to cut it back again.

Like I said - they are hard to kill. And they grow like weeds. Wish *all* the chalices grew this fast :)

Jeff I would do as Jenn said and cut it a bit they are very hardy mine was worse than yours from getting knocked around and is around 10in in 6/mo they are very hard to kill.

Good to know...thanks!

My temp stays about 80,Is that to warm? This is my second year at this so Im still a bit green! And by the way:eek:WOW thats sweet. TY Chris

It's a bit warm - is the temperature fluctuating much? If it pushes higher than that, that could be why it's bleaching.

Brian just took the dremel to my chalice and lopped off an entire lobe. Video uploading to YouTube (I'll start my own thread for that!) It's mad and sliming right now but you can hardly tell. We measured it before he cut into it... it was 20x19".

Ty for the input,I will drop it say 2 degrees?78 is good?My temp was moving around a bit cause my heater went bad,I guess that didn't help.Right now Im thinking about cutting the heater off?Is 76 to cool?Thats what the house is set at.

78 is what we aim for. Consistency is important too. I'd say 77-78 is good.

Well I got inspired by Jenn's video so I cut mine up. I was just going to try and cut off the dead parts but instead ended up with 8 pieces that I just glued up as frags. The main portion stayed attached so that's good. Let's see how they do!

Well just to update....so far so good with the fragged pieces. Several of the small frags died but I have the 3 main pieces that came from it. I think the others were just to small to make it. They were about the size of a pencil eraser or smaller.
