how many of you guys have skimmers in your biocubes? i havent really heard any good comments about the small nano skimmers. does anyone have a overflow on theirs? the thought even crossed my mind to see if i could fit a mag 3 in the back of a 29g biocube to pump up to a fuge/skimmer that had a gravity fed return.

Thought about a remora on my 14, but it would require a heck of a mod, also, in a 14BC, water moves from right to left in sump, Aqua C Remora moves water left to right.... Not a huge issue, but still a logistics problem in my eyes.

My air driven nano skimmer leaves a lot to be desired!

I'm hoping weekly WC's will surfice.....

If you don't have a sump, it's probably not worth it IMHO. If you do regular water changes, that is enough.

The smaller HOB skimmers just aren't worth it.

the tank is doing alright, i do 5 gallon water changes every 4-5 days, but bc its a new tank and i tend to over feed i have alittle algae. i was wondering about getting like a 10 gallon tank to put my g2 skimmer in, drill 2 holes in the tank. small pump feed with a gravity return. the stand its on is home made so i could build a little self just high enough to get gravity feed. i know it wouldnt be the prettiest but seems like itd function well. heres a pic of the tank taken like 5 mins ago, its just under 2 months old...

You have to many cleaner shrimp for that tank.... I'll be glad to help alleviate this problem :D

Make sure you take some pics of your progress.... i'd like to see results.

Keep up with the water changes and you should be fine. I don't know of any skimmers that are worth purchasing for a nano offhand.

My skimmer seems to a good job. Tank has been up almost a year and no problems. I change 10 percent of the water each week.

I have a 34 solana and use the remora C skimmer, it hangs off the back. I upgraded the pump on the remora to the 1200 maxi and have it rotated sideways to fit and have about 1/2" clearance on each side

what kind of skimmer might this be?

ive seen remora c's on some great looking tanks so i wouldnt doubt them. and that idea has crossed my mind, but im worried ill go buy one and it wont fit in the back. like the distance from input pump to the return would hit the 2 dividers in the back section, not letting the skimmer drop all the way down onto the tank

I ordered http://www.petmountain.com/product/aquarium-gifts/504012/current-usa-fission-nano-skimmer-up-to-12-gallon-.html">this one</a> just to try it. The water just never seems crystal on my 12g nano, no matter how often I do wc's.

I figured $21 was worth the risk. Reviews at Pet Mountain are good on it, but we'll see.

Please let me know how that one works......

I've seen the media chamber on your nano, and you should replace the Uber-Sponge with some rubble, Matrix and Purigen... just my HO

Come and set up my nanos.

You'll get a burger 'n a beer out of it ... if Loren will grill the burgers.

;-)

Cool beans! Maybe Sunday, seems like its shaping up to be a fish day

I have heard good things about the Tunze 9002. Thinking of getting one myself for my AP24.

measure your dimensions in back and go see sam at aquabuys, he might unbox one for you and let you measure it mocked up. worth a try.
