How to transport large tank

I am in Augusta. All the good used tank sellers are in either Atlanta or nearby. Does anyone have any experience in shipping large tanks ? what the most economical way to transport a long distance ?(without livestock)

I would think the safest way to do it is to do it yourself.

You need to look at what you are transporting. Tank only? Pickup. Tank, stand, canopy, sump, lighting, peripherals, etc? Covered Uhaul. A tank and stand may not fit in a pickup bed, or it may, depending on the width/length of the tank and stand. What will the weather be like? You do not want a wooden stand and canopy getting wet period.

And if you are driving from Augusta to Atlanta to pick up, believe me you want to get it all in one trip.

A cargo van would be a decent choice for a larger setup. I prefer the weather protection of enclosed transportation, personally.

Yea it just depends what you are hauling. You might look for some suction handles. Real ones, to help you move it. I believe that is the accepted method.

I used a uhaul to move my 250 gallon

If you have more than yourself moving the tank, rent a truck from HD from around where the tank/equipment is and you drive it back and the other person drives your car back. Won't be too much to rent a puckup for half a day. Or even a small trailer.

If your buying your tank from a store, talk to them about delivery, Pure reef offer to do it for a few hundred bucks, and In halfway across the state. After carrying my tank in, it probably would hae been worth the couple hundred to pay them to deliver it.
