I got theses leds from a cousin of mine that works at a lighting factory, There was something wrong with them but i figured it out, it was a bad connection at one of the crimps, anyway I'm gonna use these to light my fuge, but as of right now I'm putting the wires in the outlet with no plug, I want to wire them up with a nice plug can anyone help? They have two stips of leds, 1 ballast and a dimmer.

Pics coming

The lights are all wired up, what i wanna know is there are two solid core copper wires that come out of the ballast, if i just put those in an outlet they will light up, how do i convert this into a nice plug?

also how do i wire up the dimmer, again there are two solid core copper wires coming out of it

First of all, sweet deal on the LED's!

As for a neat plug, just go to a hardware store, Home Depot, etc. and get a good quality plug, style per your prefence. You can make it look nice/clean by buying some 'zip cord' which is like lamp cord, and connect to the black and white wires on one end and to the plug on the other. You could cut off some of the black/white copper if you want to to clean it up. You can also just use wire nuts to connect the wiring which will be easy, or if you are handy I personally prefer in-line solder connections which are then double shrink-wrapped-JMHO

As for the dimmer, I would go look up this lamp on-line. I can see that it's made by Osram. Just Google 'Osram model# xxxx' and see if you can find a wiring diagram and /or technical reference.

FWIW-These type of dimmers usually work off of a 0-10 VDC signal, or in industrial applications a 4-20 mA DC signal. The way to make these work exceeds a thread IMO. Best bet is to find the wiring diagram/tech reference. If you are in doubt about the dimmer function, find someone near to you that is good with electronics, because you can fry these if not careful.

Good luck, and remember to post some pictures!

The wiring diagram for the dimmer is at the top of page #2 at the link below.

As mentioned above it uses a 0-10 VDC input to control the dimmer function. Over a refugium, I'm not sure how important that might be to you. As indicated you can use a 100k Ohm linear potentiometer to control the dimmer input voltage. Available at Radio Shack or Newark Electronics or Arrow Electronics, possibly Fry's, etc.

BTW-any chance your cousin might be able to get (me) more of these? ;)
